MEET OUR FOUNDER & CEO:
CALE JOHNSTON.
After successfully exiting my fintech company in 2021, I was eager to dive into a new project that aligned with my passion for college sports. With the changing NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) rules, I saw an incredible opportunity for fans to engage with athletes in ways that were never possible before. Like many passionate fans, I contributed to a collective, excited to support my team. But I quickly realized that there was no transparency—my money seemed to disappear, and I had no idea how it was actually benefiting the athletes I cared about.
Then, a key player I was especially excited to see perform unexpectedly entered the transfer portal. It was frustrating— I never had a way to directly show my support for that player. That experience got me thinking: if fans had a direct way to support their favorite athletes, would that player have stayed?
That realization exposed a major gap in the NIL system. Fans wanted to contribute to specific athletes, but there was no transparent platform to facilitate that connection. So, I created Roy—a platform that allows fans to support athletes directly. With Roy, fans can contribute to athletes in exchange for exclusive content, like personal updates and videos. But the best part? The funds are only paid to athletes if they stay with the team and fulfill their content obligations. If they transfer or leave, fans get their money back. It's a low-risk way for fans to stay engaged and connected with the athletes they care about.
Our vision for Roy is to create a fairer NIL system—one where athletes get the support they deserve, and fans can make a real impact on their teams. Roy is all about transparency, control, and forging a direct connection between fans and athletes, giving everyone the chance to be a part of the athletes' journeys.
